DFC hosted an informational webinar on March 8th at 12pm!

During the webinar, we heard from Alan Berube of Brooking Metro who shared national economic growth trends. Followed by a presentation from DFC to introduce the findings from our recently released “Growth Occupations: Exploring Opportunities for More Equitable Participation in Detroit’s Growing Economy” report, we introduced Detroit specific growth occupations, and explore ideas, innovations, and initiatives aimed at eliminating disparities in access to growth occupations based on race, geographic location, and educational attainment with a dynamic reaction panel.

Reaction panel included:

• BRIDGETTE GRAY, Chief Customer Officer with Opportunity@Work leads the Market Development and Customer Success team as Opportunity@Work scales the hiring of workers who are Skilled Through Alternative Routes (STARs) nationwide.
• JOSH SIREFMAN, CEO with Michigan Central, a 30-acre vibrant, inclusive and walkable community dedicated to advancing new technologies and addressing barriers to greater social, economic, and physical mobility.
• KYSHA WRIGHT FRAZIER, President & CEO with Corporation for a Skilled Workforce directs the organization’s overall strategic direction to provoke change in public policy and investment in workforce development.
• QUENTIN MESSER, CEO with Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) leads business development and attraction, efforts in Michigan, with a focus on building a strong and equitable economy for all Michiganders.
