About the report

In September 2024, Detroit Future City (DFC) released its signature report, Making the Middle-Class: Leveraging Detroit’s Neighborhoods to Build a Middle-Class City. The report presents data on advancements and challenges in becoming a middle-class city, examining key factors such as population change, housing, income, education, and neighborhood quality. It also outlines areas of opportunity for investment, including increasing income for Detroiters, renewing Detroit’s housing, and addressing vacant land. Despite differences among neighborhoods, each should equitably meet the needs of all who call them home.

This special event will feature:

A fireside chat with DFC CEO, Anika Goss and Jeffrey T. Verespej, Chief Operating Officer of the Cleveland Neighborhood Progress and Co-Chair of the national program, the Middle Neighborhoods Initiative.

Reaction Panel moderated by Nancy Kaffer, Editorial Page Editor for the Detroit Free Press
