Volunteers plant more trees in Detroit’s poletown, expanding forest project

Birch Kemp of Detroit, 55, left, and Marcel Wyckoff of Detroit, 29, center, plant a Yoshino cherry tree in a vacant lot next door from Wyckoff’s home on Saturday, April 26, 2025 in Detroit’s Poletown neighborhood. The lot will connect to Circle Forest, as part of a larger project to create a vibrant, community-focused trail and forest ecosystem through a partnership between Detroit Future City and Arboretum Detroit.
