Demand for mortgages now lower than during Great Recession

Detroit Future City’s COO, Tom Goddeeris, was quoted in a Crain’s Detroit Business article speaking to how trends in the housing market are experiencing narrow demand for available properties, driving prices up, even as fewer people are able to participate in the market as interest rate hikes reduce their buying power. In the article, Goddeeris explains that “The rising prices are not a sign of a booming economy, they’re a sign of a perverse economy. It’s a sign of inequality.”
