An urgent need to grow capital access for Black-owned businesses

In this article, Jaishree Drepaul-Bruder of Model D details the need for more support and access to capital funding for Black-owned and minority-owned businesses in Detroit. In partnership with Detroit Future City, this story is part of the Model D ‘Exploring Economic Equity’ series, which aims to report everyday Detroiters and their experiences as they live their lives and make choices about their neighborhoods, health, education, jobs, transportation, and other factors related to economic equity. DFC’s CEO, Anika Goss, shares how “…steps must be taken to protect the future of African American and Latino businesses, particularly because they are growing much slower in comparison to White- and Asian-owned businesses that are based in Detroit.”
