The Buzz lot design is a barber-inspired pattern cut into a lot using lines, edges, shapes or images.  The designs presented here are based on workshops held in the summer of 2016, where Detroit-based barbers and mowers worked together in teams to cut patterns into lots. While they had special skills, with a little creativity, customization, and planning, anyone can buzz their lot!

Cost

The Buzz is one of the Field Guideā€™s least expensive lot designs. Expenses are based on the cost of trash removal, waste disposal, and gas for the mower and weed whacker.  The total cost assumes that residents or volunteers have access to basic safety gear, garden tools and a lawn mower at no cost.  Check out the resources page for ideas on where to borrow tools or work in cooperation with other organizations.
