The Neighborhood Exchange is an online platform to share ideas and resources for strengthening neighborhoods in Detroit.
The Neighborhood Exchange is an outgrowth of the Vacant Property Coalition led by Michigan Community Resources. The work of this coalition provided opportunities for residents and community organizations to engage in shared learning and dialogue around community concerns. The Neighborhood Exchange provides a space for individuals and organizations to connect to initiatives and resources across the city.
The website features how-to guides, funding resources, an events calendar, news and best practices with an emphasis on nine key focus areas.
These focus areas are safety, organizing and engagement, commercial development and entrepreneurship, parks and public spaces, vacant land, neighborhood stabilization, neighborhood planning, data and mapping and strong organizations. This website, an online platform, is also accompanied by workshops and quarterly convenings to reach a broad set of stakeholders.
