Detroit Future City and Local Initiatives Support Corporation are seeking a summer AmeriCorps member to serve as a Land Use and Sustainability Support Specialist. We are recruiting a summer AmeriCorps member to be a part of our team for two to four months.
The service term is for 300 hours to be completed between July 7 and Sept 30, 2021. The latest start date is Aug 1, 2021. The application deadline is July 7th.
The Americorps member will:
Provide technical assistance and capacity-building support for Detroit Future City’s Land Use and Sustainability team and DFC partners to plan, implement and maintain vacant land transformation and green stormwater infrastructure projects in alignment with the Detroit Future City Strategic Framework Plan
Support vacant land reuse and green stormwater infrastructure projects with a thorough evaluation, mapping and research, development of design documents, educational resources and events
Support with community outreach and engagement efforts to scale up DFC’s Land Use and Sustainability work and to increase its impact
In performing these activities, Detroit Future City and LISC AmeriCorps anticipate that the person in this position will achieve the following goal(s):
Significantly contribute to a community needs assessment or implement community solutions making the host organization more effective and or efficient in serving residents
Upon successful completion of the full term of service, the member will be eligible for a $1,311.11 education award to pay off existing, eligible student loans or return to school. Members are eligible to place qualifying, existing student loans (not in default) into AmeriCorps forbearance. The position pays a total stipend of $3,000, and is payable by Detroit Future City to the AmeriCorps member in equal installments, and is considered taxable.
